The Transitional Bilingual Observation Protocol (TBOP) is a useful tool used in the classroom to observe and record instructional events with an emphasis on teacher-student interaction. It records the language of instruction, language content, activity structure, communication mode, and English as a Second Language (ESL) strategies. In this module, we review some of the key features of the TBOP.
